FOOD REGULATORY CONSULTING
Canada food label review
A product-specific review of labels and nutrition information for Canada using CFIA sources.
Content reviewed: · Our approach to sources

What do we assess together?
For Canada, the CFIA Industry Labelling Tool provides a starting point for relevant topics and product categories. Language versions, product characteristics, nutrition information and other packaging statements are considered in one dossier.
A panel prepared for the USA is not assumed to be usable as a Canadian label. Existing documents and packaging are compared, and no definitive conclusion is added before product-specific exceptions or special requirements are verified.
Our review topics
- Matching existing packaging to the product and target market
- Checking label information against technical data
- Identifying issues requiring local sources, documents or specialist verification
How do we adapt the review to your product?
Before starting, we agree on the current packaging version, product code and expected deliverable. Each technical detail is linked to the relevant label, and issues that cannot be verified because data is missing are recorded separately. The report distinguishes implementable corrections from matters requiring local authority or specialist confirmation. If a revision review is requested, the same record tracks how earlier findings were addressed.
What will you receive?
- CFIA source mapping
- Existing panel review
- Country-specific correction list
What you can prepare to get started
- Current label file showing all panels
- Product specification, recipe and available analytical reports
- Destination country, importer and sales-channel details
Sharing your document list is enough for the first meeting. The review method, delivery format and any local specialist verification needed depend on your product's characteristics.
