Scope of this guide
Includes an application note linked to official sources, not a completed regulatory review for every product category.
PRODUCT REVIEW IN PRACTICE
Japan: product dossier priorities
For Japan, combine product classification with technical matching of Japanese consumer text. Distinctions such as processed food, fresh products and additives affect source selection. Separate terminology questions for a language specialist from issues awaiting regulatory assessment.
Japan: local wording and the allergen list
CAA explains that food labelling for products sold in Japan must be in Japanese. Its allergen page publishes regulations, notices and updates as separate documents. An older English introductory leaflet should not replace the current Japanese notices. For an imported biscuit or mixed sauce, record local ingredient names, allergen equivalents and the applicable amendment version together. Distinguish mandatory allergen declarations from recommended declarations, preserving the scope used in the source.
Jurisdiction-specific legislation records
Archive dates do not confirm current legal effect. Titles retain their source language; this selection is not exhaustive.

How is the label review dossier prepared?
Collect artwork, recipe, allergen evidence and importer details for the same product version. Our working method explains the shared document-preparation and reporting steps.

Sources and research method
Sources are selected research references. An archive record does not confirm current legal effect; national adoption of Codex texts requires separate verification.
