PRODUCT REVIEW IN PRACTICE

Australia: product dossier priorities

For Australia, consider nutrition and allergen information reviewed through FSANZ resources alongside origin wording. Separate country-specific fields when planning shared packaging with New Zealand. Check that storage instructions on the importer product card and label share the same supporting evidence.

FSANZ: the current allergen declaration format

FSANZ links plain English allergen labelling to Standard 1.2.3 and Schedule 9. The new requirements began applying on 25 February 2024; the sell-through period for compliant older labels on food packaged before that date was described as ending on 25 February 2026. Do not confuse a transitional packaging example with new artwork in a current dossier. Review allergen names, emphasis in the ingredients list and the separate allergen summary. The shared Food Standards Code does not mean that Australia and New Zealand have identical import procedures.

Archive dates do not confirm current legal effect. Titles retain their source language; this selection is not exhaustive.
