## Scope of this guide

Includes an application note linked to official sources, not a completed regulatory review for every product category.

PRODUCT REVIEW IN PRACTICE

## Malaysia: product dossier priorities

For Malaysia, review Malay or English product information alongside the documentary scope of any halal mark. Food label compliance and halal certification are separate assessment topics. Uncertainties in gelatin, flavour-carrier or compound-ingredient documents remain open even after packaging wording is corrected.

## Malaysia: retrieve the regulations together with their schedules

Malaysia’s Ministry of Health publishes Food Regulations 1985 and their schedules as separate files. The page gives 29 October 2024 for the English main text and different upload dates for schedules; an upload date is not the same as the latest legal amendment. It also lists separate applications for nutrition claims, permitted added nutrients and nutrient reference values. For a vitamin-enriched beverage, locate the relevant schedule and any application scope alongside the main PDF. The resource directory alone does not establish that every current amendment has been reviewed.

## How is the label review dossier prepared?

Collect artwork, recipe, allergen evidence and importer details for the same product version. Our working method explains the shared document-preparation and reporting steps.

**Packaging, recipe and evidence in one review dossier.**Knowing which product version a finding concerns matters as much as the correction itself. Maintain file and revision tracking throughout the assignment.

## Label review: evidence and findings table

<table><thead><tr><th scope="col">Review scope</th><th scope="col">Evidence reviewed</th><th scope="col">Report output</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><th scope="row">Product name and class</th><td>Recipe, product form, intended use</td><td>Correct sources and review scope</td></tr><tr><th scope="row">Ingredients and allergens</th><td>Sub-ingredients, supplier and cross-contact records</td><td>Comparison of label text and evidence</td></tr><tr><th scope="row">Nutrition and claims</th><td>Analysis or calculation, serving, front wording</td><td>Data basis and claim evidence</td></tr><tr><th scope="row">Language and layout</th><td>Every face, local wording and supplementary label</td><td>Missing-information and readability findings</td></tr><tr><th scope="row">Import and traceability</th><td>Importer, lot, dates and shipment version</td><td>Document needs and local confirmation questions</td></tr></tbody></table>

## Sources and research method

Sources are selected research references. An archive record does not confirm current legal effect; national adoption of Codex texts requires separate verification.
