# India food regulations

## India: product dossier priorities

For India, establish the FSSAI source version, product category and importer dossier together. Check technical support for packaging symbols, ingredient statements and claims individually. Include amendments published after the available compilation in the source review at the assessment date.

## India: distinguish the compilation from amendments

FSSAI’s compilation of the Labelling and Display Regulations, 2020 is a starting text; the authority also maintains a separate amendments page. Downloading the 2025 compilation does not establish that subsequent notices have been incorporated into the dossier. Record the compilation version, relevant amendment and application date together. Product naming and recipe classification come before source selection because ordinary foods, special categories and mixtures can involve different information requirements.
