# United States food regulations

## United States: product dossier priorities

For the USA, distinguish FDA and USDA FSIS jurisdiction by product category. Verify that the Nutrition Facts panel, serving approach and allergen declaration use the same recipe version. Claims translated from Turkish or EU packaging receive a separate review for US presentation.

## United States: sesame and agency scope

FDA identifies sesame as the ninth major food allergen, with the relevant requirements applying from 1 January 2023. An older eight-allergen checklist is therefore unsuitable for reviewing a US label. For tahini, sauces or compound ingredients containing sesame, compare supplier specifications with package wording. This review concerns FDA-regulated foods; establish USDA FSIS jurisdiction separately for meat, poultry and certain egg products. A correct nutrition panel does not by itself establish correct allergen disclosure or substantiate other product claims.
